The Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center, located on the Bay campus of URI, is looking for an individual to assist in developing a website for the center.
The website does not exist to date. We are looking for someone to take the concept and vision I have for the site, and make it a reality. This includes design of the site, graphics, implementation of security for one or more pages of the site. The issue with security arises from a project underway at the RINSC to have a neutron scattering instrument available to researchers around the world via the internet. The researcher, after having his experiment approved, and set up would get a password and user name valid only for the duration of the experiment. They would then be able to log on to that portion of the website to interface with the experimentation equipment located at RINSC during the experiment. The bulk of the site would be an informational site, used for marketing, status of experiments at the RINSC, and other information for prospective and current users.
Basic web design, some graphic design, designing the security for the applicable pages, and setting up the interface with the RINSC computer controlling the experimental equipment. The website would also need to be easily expanded. There are several other areas we would like to add to the secure interconnectivity areas. One note is that no one could control the reactor itself remotely.
