CA Technologies Hiring Software Engineers and Summer Interns

Posted: October 28, 2011

We are a software development company that specializes in mainframe products and we have a few openings that we are looking to fill for this coming June. We have locations all over the world, and we usually hire around 20+ engineers nationwide.

This is a job opening for Computer Engineers and Computer Scientists, primarily, as we have some minor Distributed Platforms that use C++ or Java, but the primary development of our products is in Assembler as that is what most mainframe products are still written in, today.

We are going to be hiring a few engineers full time in our Framingham office, and we may be starting a new Internship program for this coming summer. Should an individual work for our company full time, they would start as an Associate Software Engineer (or ASE) and they would be sent down to Plano, TX for all expenses paid training where they spend 5-6 weeks training in the mainframe.

When they return, they can begin working in one of two departments: Software Development or Sustaining Engineering.

For Software Development, we are looking for motivated and creative individuals with a strong programming background. Software Engineers will be developing new products as well as new releases of existing
products. We have roughly 1,200 products currently supported by our company, including tools for Mainframe Application Testing as well as Database Management.

For Sustaining Engineering, we are looking for individuals who enjoy problem solving. Sustaining Engineers fix bugs in new releases. Sustaining Engineers will work on a team, but will be working on fixing/finding bugs individually when possible. They will, however, always have many people to reference and to ask assistance
from.

We have six development sites that students can apply to work at here in America. These are located in:
Framingham, MA
Islandia, NY
Plano, TX
Ewing, NJ
Lisle, IL
Pittsburg, PA

I must stress that ASEs are not expected to know everything. New hires will have the Plano training to teach them about the mainframe and how to program applications on it, but will also need to learn about the individual product that they will be working on when they come back. We strive to ensure that all of our
employees are comfortable and respected.

You can apply anytime at ca.com/career and if you have any specific questions, you can email me at dparker@ele.uri.edu.
