As of September 20, 2009, the Department of Computer Science and Statistics has a new lab space for students. Check back soon for more information.
This is our main teaching lab for undergraduate Computer Science courses. The lab consists of 30 workstations and seating for several students with personal laptops. Each computer is loaded with a variety of software for student education and work. The Lectern system is set up for professors and presentors to easily set up their computers. Outside of the lab is a large, open lounge area for students to work quietly between classes.
This is our main teaching lab for undergraduate Computer Science Courses. This lab consists of 30 workstations and seating for several students with personal laptops. On a regular basis, one third of these workstations are upgraded so the lab stays with the most current technologies.
Champlin Interactive 3D Lab
This recent addition to our facilities was made possible by a grant from the Champlin Foundations. The lab is designed specifically for use in the development and teaching of Interactive 3D Graphics. The lab is used jointly by our department and the Art department to train artists, graphics programers, and researchers (some students are all three!). The lab is comprised of 19 Apple Macintosh® G5 workstations and video conferencing facilities.
This cluster of 24+ Linux Workstations has been established to experiment with parallel and multiple-processor tasks such as those found in machine learning, data mining and network simulations.
Render Farm
The 3D Group for Interactive Visualization maintains a render farm consisting of 6 Apple Macintosh® G5 XServe servers and 15 HP DX5150 64 Bit computers. Over the next two years, this initial cluser will increase to handle high quality film and video rendering.
Digital Forensics Center (DFC)
The DFC has a lab of 20 forensic computers ready for training law enforcement officers and computer forensic students. Additionally, the DFC maintains at least 4 forensic equipped computers ready to be used on active cases.
