FM Global Seeks Editorial Intern for Summer 2010

FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, seeks a motivated, detail-oriented student for a summer editorial internship in its communications department.

We are seeking college students entering their senior year of study to join us for the summer period, roughly from June 1 – Sept. 1, 2010.

Your Role

As an editorial intern in our communications department, you will:

  • draft corporate and local news announcements;
  • draft copy for the employee newsletter and potentially our client magazine;
  • assist with various FM Global 175th anniversary communications;
  • repurpose/edit existing editorial content for different media;
  • proofread copy for various print publications;
  • conduct Internet research as necessary;
  • complete administrative tasks as assigned;
  • receive excellent mentoring and supervision; and
  • learn and have fun as a member of our dynamic team!

Our Expectations

Our editorial intern should be motivated, dedicated, organized, reliable and ready to work in a professional environment. He or she must possess top-notch writing and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently and/or with others. Internet research skills are a must. We are seeking candidates studying marketing, public relations, journalism, English and/or communications. During the summer timeframe, interns ideally work 40 hours per week. Should the internship be extended into the academic year, this availability can be adjusted. Interns have the choice to receive academic credit, in addition to pay, for the internship.

FM Global Seeks Graphic Design Intern for Summer 2010

FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, seeks a motivated, detail-oriented student for a summer graphic design internship in its communications department.

Your Role

As part of the busy and award-winning design team, the graphic design intern will assist in providing production support on templated layouts as well as upload electronic files into our digital asset manager system, process PDFs, collect files for print, assemble mockups, and supply files to our translation layout vendor.

Our Expectations

Our graphic design intern should be motivated, dedicated, organized, reliable and ready to work in a professional environment. He or she must possess interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently and/or with others. We are seeking candidates studying for Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Science in Communications, or a related program. Candidates must also have a working familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite products and Adobe Acrobat.

The intern must be a junior and be able to earn credit towards their college degree.  The intern will work full time during the summer months, with the possibility of extending the arrangement on a part-time basis in the fall. Interns have the choice to receive academic credit, in addition to pay, for the internship.
