Job Description: Provide hardware and software support to the department of Enrollment Services. Deploy, maintain and configure computer equipment and software. Assist supervisor with the following: (1) training, supervising and coaching undergraduate technical support students, (2) implementing departmental IT projects, (3) maintaining the Enrollment Services website, (4) developing and documenting IT procedures/contingency plans.  Must be able to research, troubleshoot and resolve IT issues in a relative timely manner.

Qualifications: At least 2 years of hands-on computer experience including demonstrated diagnostic skills with the following: Desktops, Laptops, Printers, Microsoft Client/Server, Windows XP, Linux Ubuntu, Office 2007, HTML, Antivirus/Antispyware, Adobe Photoshop and desktop imaging. Knowledge of Windows 7, Wiki, GParted, PHP, Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) experience preferred. Must be motivated, personable, dependable, focused, team oriented, and be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

Work with Senior Programmers to develop software required to meet the needs of clients.

Assist in the development of Configuration Management and Quality Assurance (CMQA) procedures for software development/maintenance.

Provide telephone and e-mail support to customer base for help desk calls and technical issues.

Work with customer base end-users to resolve technical requests, problems and concerns.

Intern

Part Time ImageJ/Java Programmer Needed

ImageJ / Java Programmer

The Narragansett Bay Estuary Program (www.nbep.org) at the URI Coastal Institute is seeking a computer programmer for a part time position at the URI Bay Campus to develop  a series of plugins and macros using the NIH digital image analytical program “ImageJ”.  More information on the program is available at:  http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/docs/menus/plugins.html and http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/docs/.

Current projections are for a 1 month,  20-30 hr/wk  effort at $15/hr. (negotiable depending on experience) to begin by end of April 2010.  Further extensions of this work may be requested after successful completion of this application.
